GAME SCHEDULE

6U LEAGUE RULES

Ball: 10 inch ball will be used, League will provide game balls.

Distances:

  • The pitching rubber shall be set at 35 feet for T-Ball

  • A restraining arc of 8 feet from the midpoint of home plate.

  • The catcher’s arc is 10 feet from the point of home plate.

  • The base length is 55 feet

Innings/Time Limits:

  • There will be a 60-minute time limit with no new innings beginning after the 55 minutes. Regular season games can end in a tie.

Runs per inning: A maximum of 5 runs can be scored per inning for each team

Offensive Line Up: The batting lineup needs to consist of all players on roster that are present. If a player is removed for any reason other than ejection, the spot in the batting order will be skipped without being recorded. If a player is running late you may place at the end of batting line up and take out if she doesn’t show before turn. No outs taken if there are at least 5 players.

Defense: You must stop the lead runner or get the ball back to pitchers in the pitching circle (The umpire will call time). Coaches must coach their girls to throw the ball and not run the ball consistently. The first two games they will be reminded to throw the ball, any incident after that the base will be awarded to the runner if the ball is being ran and not thrown. (We want to encourage teamwork, and developing throwing/catching skills)

Defensive Positions: The defensive team must have a min of 5 players and a max of 10 players on the field.

Defensive players must remain behind the pitcher’s plate line extended until the batter has hit the ball.

One player shall be in the pitcher’s position on the pitching mound with at least one foot in contact with the pitcher’s plate at the start of each play. The pitcher cannot leave this position until the ball is hit.

6 fielders including the catcher must be in the infield. The rest must be in the outfield. The outfield is defined as at least 10 feet outside the baseline.

Catchers must wear a helmet with a face mask while catching.

Offensive Lineup: The batter will be allowed 5 swings total, 3 coach pitched and 2 off tee. IF the batter misses the ball it will be counted as a swing. If the ball goes foul, or the ball does not go over the 10 foot Tee arc, this will be considered a swing. If the 5th pitch is hit foul the batter is out.

Bunting is NOT allowed.

All batters must wear helmets with a facemask and chin strap.

There is NO infield fly rule.

Pitchers must rotate out after 2 consecutive innings and cannot re enter game as pitcher for the remainder of the game.

A Runner may not leave a base until the ball is hit.

Home runs are allowed if not stopped by overthrow rule.

NO stealing is allowed

Time will be called when a defensive player has possession of the ball in advance of the lead runner or the ball is returned to the pitcher with at least one foot inside the pitcher’s circle. If a runner is more than halfway to the next base when time is called, the runner is awarded the next base.

There is NO look back rule.

This rule does not preclude the umpire from calling or granting time in situations such as when a runner has slid into a base, requests time, no other runners are advancing, or there is an injured player.

Additional Coaches: In addition to base coaches, other coaches are allowed on the field of play.

The “Tee Coach” may provide assistance to the batter prior to the Umpire placing the ball on the Tee. Thereafter the coach must not assist the batter/runners vocally or with hand gestures. The “Tee Coach” will then be responsible for removing the Tee and bat from baseline. “Tee Coach” may serve as positioning batter while the coach pitches.  The coach must not assist the batter/runners vocally or with hand gestures.

One coach will be allowed to stand in the on-deck circle while on defense. No other defensive coach will be allowed on the field.

Overthrow Rule: Only 1 base to be allowed if overthrow occurs.

(Example: Batter hits ball, there is already a runner on 1st, Batter runs towards 1st as pitcher throws ball to 1st baseman, 1st baseman misses ball. Batter/now runner may continue to 2nd base and must stop there. The runner that was already on 1st may advance to 3rd base, and must stop there.)

Runs scored would not count:

When the third out is a force out.

When the third out is a batted ball in flight that is caught or prevented from being caught by interference.

If a base running were the third out, runs scored by the following runner(s) would not count

When a runner crosses home plate after a preceding runner is declared the third out for a base running infraction.

With two outs, if the base missed were the first to which the batter or runner was forced to advance, no runs would score.

Protests of ump call may only involve the interpretation of a rule not a judgement call. Head coach will need to call time with the umpire to discuss.

Coin toss will occur prior to the game starting with both coaches and umpire present at the plate to determine the home team.

Coach can not touch/nudge/push players off bases to get them to run. Umpire may call this as a game interference and play may be called out.

Tie Breaker: Start new inning with last runner on 2nd base
